Her senior cat was sick and needed help—Mission was there

“George has been a treasure to us,” Gail said of her 13-year-old cat. “He’s as important as one of our kids.” Having cared for senior cats before, Gail knew they were special, but George was truly one of a kind.

George’s life hadn’t been easy. When his previous family moved into assisted living, he was left behind. As an older cat, finding a new home proved difficult, and George ended up bouncing between temporary caregivers.

That all changed when George met Gail. It was love at first sight. He quickly became her shadow, following her everywhere and offering quiet companionship. Gail describes their bond as unique and profound. From the moment he joined her family, she was determined to give this aging tabby the love and care he deserved.

But when George became ill, Gail grew deeply concerned about her “Georgie Porgie.” He seemed “off,” and while the symptoms were subtle at first, his condition worsened rapidly. Gail couldn’t imagine her home without George’s comforting presence and knew she had to act fast.

Searching for help, she found Mission Animal Hospital’s Urgent Care online. The next morning, she arrived with George in his carrier, hopeful for answers and desperate to see her companion return to his lively self.

Thanks to support from generous donors, Gail didn’t have to face an impossible choice between caring for her furry family member and covering her other expenses. At Mission, George received the fluids and medication he needed, along with the love and compassion Gail had hoped for.

Today, George is back to being his playful, affectionate self, and Gail couldn’t be more grateful.

“Thanks to Mission for ensuring quality care for fur babies in the Twin Cities,” she said.
